WHAT IS IT?
Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation in which the aesthetician uses a sharp surgical blade to manually slough and scrape off any build-up of dead skin cells on the face. In addition to getting rid of dead cells, the treatment encourages cell regeneration, which helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and helps with skin rejuvenation. This procedure also removes any peach fuzz, also known as vellus hair, which can trap dirt and oil, causing breakouts and a dull complexion. After dermaplaning, you will see the results immediately. Your skin will be left smooth, soft and radiant.
BENEFITS
The benefits of Dermaplaning may include the following:
The process of manual exfoliation with the scalpel encourages cell regeneration, which helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and helps with skin rejuvenation.
It helps to even out skin texture and provide you with an instant glow.
The treatment can help to reduce the appearance of superficial acne scars.
Dermaplaning provides deeper product penetrations as dead skin cells have been removed.
Removes peach fuzz hair that laser cannot treat such an excellent option for fluffy blonde hairs. Leaving your skin feeling smoother, and make-up application will look more even.
Dermaplaning is ideal for a one-off session to help you achieve the ultimate glow ahead of your special event or significant occasion.
Great for all skin types, and dermaplaning can be combined with other treatments such as laser hair removal.
TREATMENT
Using a scalpel and a delicate touch, the Aesthetician simply abrades the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes.
DermaPlaning removes the outer most layers of dead skin cells leaving the skin immediately smooth, supple and vibrant.
DermaPlaning is another non-invasive method of skin rejuvenation.
DURING TREATMENT
Please note, we ask clients not to wear any make-up prior to treatment, to allow the Aesthetician to work directly with your skin, ensuring maximum absorption of the beneficial ingredients and treatments.
The treatment is carried out using a sterile surgical scalpel at a 45-degree angle and the clinician will carefully drag it across your skin.
This will remove dead cells, vellus hair and any other debris that may be present on your skin.
After that, the skin is cleaned, and a mask is applied. After that, the treatment is finished with a serum and moisturizer with SPF.

FAQ's
HOW OFTEN CAN YOU DO TREATMENTS?
For skin rejuvenation, treatment is recommended to be carried out every 4-6 weeks as cellular renewal will take around 30 days. Peach fuzz hair treatments are recommended every 3-4 weeks or when necessary to remove the hairs.
IS DERMAPLANING SAFE?
It is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained technician. The technique is performed by using a specialised sterile surgical instrument.
Once the skin is properly prepped, the technician holds the skin taught and gently scrapes the blade at a 45 degree angle.
WHO SHOULD NOT GET A DERMAPLANING FACIAL?
A Dermaplane facial is appropriate for all ages and for most skin types, but if you have deep cystic acne or sensitive skin, then this will not be suitable for you. If you have acne, please wait until breakouts are clear. For sensitive skin, note that 21 days’ worth of dead skin cells will be removed, so skin will be more sensitive post-treatment. It is also worth noting that Dermaplaning is only meant for the face, NOT the nose, neck, or chest.
ONCE THE VELLUS HAIR IS REMOVED, WILL IT GROW BACK QUICKER AND THICKER?
No, this is physiologically impossible. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow back slowly – usually in about 4 weeks and no different than it was previously.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
The treatment is only to be performed on the face. You should not Dermaplane the eyelids, neck or chest.
HOW OFTEN CAN THIS PROCEDURE BE DONE?
Dermaplaning can be done every 3-4 weeks. Treating the skin in this manner removes about 2-3 weeks’ worth of dead skin cells.
WHO CAN BE TREATED?
All skin types can benefit from Dermaplaning. Even men can be treated (over non bearded areas only). It is beneficial for skin types such as people with:
* Fine lines and wrinkles
* Some acne scars
* Removal of fine facial Vellus hair (peach fuzz)
* Uneven & rough skin
* Dull skin
IS IT PAINFUL?
No, Dermaplaning is an exfoliative technique that uses the edge of a scalpel moved at 45 degrees along the surface of the skin to smooth and exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells and fine vellus hairs. This is enhanced along with a facial massage and it’s surprisingly relaxing and pain free.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Dermaplaning removes 21 days’ worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before the next treatment. This can be determined upon consultation, as every client is different.
