WHAT IS IT?

Carbon laser facial peel / aka 'Hollywood Peel', is an exfoliating and resurfacing treatment, performed with a carbon mask and a Q-Switched Nd YAG Laser.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

The Carbon Laser Facial Peel, is a brilliantly innovative treatment for de-clogging and reducing enlarged pores, excessive oil, hyperpigmentation, and acne scarring. The facial is also fantastic for correcting uneven skin tone.

This non-invasive procedure suits all ages and skin types, promising smoother, plumper, and refreshed skin.

THE REVOLUTIONARY SKIN TREATMENT

The Carbon Laser Facial Peel uses the dual components of activated carbon powder and advanced Q-switch lasers. It’s a two-stage process that begins with a layer of liquid-activated carbon powder applied to the skin, penetrating deep into the pores. The laser light is highly attracted to the carbon particles, and when the laser is passed over the area, it destroys the carbon, taking dead skin cells, contaminants, and oil with it.

It is considered one of the best for deep cleansing of pores, as it removes grease and minimises oil production and congestion that leads to clogged pores. 

Enlarged pores are reduced in size and effectively cleaned out (thus reducing sebum production).

FAQ’S

BEFORE TREATMENT

Before treatment, you will undergo a consultation, to determine if the treatment is suitable for you and your skin type.

Before treatment, we ask clients to avoid skin care products that contain retinol or other active ingredients, and avoid taking aspirin or blood-thinning supplements two weeks before treatment.

Avoid tanning beds, heavy sunbathing, bleaching and tanning cream for two weeks before treatment.

Please note, our carbon peel is not suitable for pregnant people and clients with open skin wounds. Other contraindications will be discussed during consultation to determine suitability of treatment to client.

A patch test is required 48 hrs prior to treatment (for the Carbon Gel).

DURING TREATMENT

Please note, we ask clients not to wear any make-up prior to treatment, to allow the Aesthetician to work directly with your skin, ensuring maximum absorption of the beneficial ingredients and treatments.

All piercings in the areas to be treated need to be removed prior to treatment.

Your eyes will be covered with protective goggles during the treatment.

A carbon mask is applied to the skin and removed using a Q-Switched Nd YAG Laser, creating an intensive peeling with an immediate effect. 

The laser treatment vaporizes dead skin cells, eliminates bacteria and also stimulates the formation of new hyaluronic acid, elastin and collagen. 

It is normal to experience a feeling of warmth during the treatment and a subsequent reddening of the skin, but this disappears after a few days.

AFTER TREATMENT

It is important to be intentional about your lifestyle habits and skin care treatments after your procedure. Adopting the right practices enables long-lasting results.

Post Treatment, we will provide aftercare advice, and request this is followed to achieve optimal results, generally it includes the following (but not limited to):

Avoid exposure to sunlight for 24 to 48 hours (about 2 days). This includes No sunbathing, no tanning bed.

If you must go out during the day, make sure to use sunscreen and a hat. It is essential to use a sun protection factor of at least 30. (For the next 2 weeks).

Avoid wearing make-up for 24 to 48 hours (about 2 days). 

Avoid chlorinated water and sauna sessions for the first 2-3 days after treatment.

Do not use other peelings in the treated area for at least 3-4 weeks.

Avoid exercise and sweating for 24 to 48 hours (about 2 days) as sweating may cause irritation and inflammation to the skin.

Avoid Hot water - Hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils and exacerbate dryness and irritation after the Carbon Peel treatment. 

It is recommended to avoid hot showers or baths for at least 24 to 48 hours after the procedure, and to use lukewarm or cool water instead.

Wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser. Do not use face scrubs.

Use the right moisturizer according to your skin type.

Sleep on a clean satin pillowcase.

Don’t Pick or Scratch the Skin.

Avoid using harsh products; containing Retin-A, tretinoin, and hydroquinone.

Do not use chemical peels containing glycolic acid and lactic acid.

Avoid using topical anti-pimple and acne medications.

RECOMMENDATIONS

As a safe and non-invasive procedure, Carbon Laser Peel can be done on a monthly basis without complications, however this is dependent on each client and will be determine upon consultation. The skin texture becomes more even and the skin colour becomes more even and brighter. As a guide we recommend regular treatments for optimal and long-term results. To achieve the full effect, a treatment period of 5-6 sessions with an interval of 2-3 weeks is recommended. 

Keeping treatments two to three weeks apart allows collagen regeneration for the best outcome.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Results can be enhanced with minimal sun exposure, a reduction in stress and the absence of smoking. We recommend using SPF 50 sun cream to protect the area for at least 1 month following on from treatment, as failure to do so could result in hyperpigmentation.
